The library offers weekly computer classes on topics relevant to beginning users.
There will be no classes on July 10.
The June classes are: How to Use E-mail, Beginning Microsoft Word and Facebook for Beginners.
Sign-up is one week in advance. Call the library at 503.630.8273 or stop in to register.

July 31: Facebook for Beginners
* How to Use E-mail will show how to use such services as Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail. Participants will learn how to create an e-mail account. Also covered: reading and sending email, creating folders, sending attachments, the address book, and Internet e-mail safety.
* Beginning Microsoft Word teaches participants the basics of Word by showing how to create a letter and/or a simple document with an image. It will cover cutting and pasting, type sizes and styles, inserting photos and images.
* Facebook for Beginners will explain how to set up a Facebook account and some basics on posting status updates and privacy settings. Note: Facebook requires users to have an e-mail address to set up a Facebook account. If you need help setting up an email account attend the email class first. Make sure you bring your Facebook User Name and Password so you can log in to your account at the library.
* Internet and Computer Safety is all about keeping your computer safe from hackers, “phishing,” spamming and other negative computing experiences. Learn how to create hackproof passwords.
Prerequisites: The classes are for people who have basic experience using computers. Participants must have an understanding of how to use a mouse, how to type, how to turn on a computer and how to open and close a computer window. Laptop computers will be provided. You can bring your own laptop computer, if preferred. The class size is limited to 4.
WEEKLY ONE-ON-ONE TUTORIALS
The weekly one-on-one computer tutorials happen every Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 12 noon. Need help with some aspect of computer usage? Sign up for a half-hour session with Cathy, our volunteer computer instructor.
