Dear Library Friends,
You are reading the first posting of the Library’s new blog “Notes from the Living Room.”
In this blog you’ll hear from us, the library staff, about what’s new in the library; from new materials for you to check out, maybe a book review or recommendation, or updates about how the library can serve your informational and recreational reading needs. As with most new ideas, this blog will certainly evolve. It is just one more way we have to communicate how your library serves you.
But, you might ask, what is meant by “the living room”? I’ve often heard the library referred to as “Estacada’s living room.” That’s a wonderful visual image, isn’t it? A place where people can go to relax and read, use a computer, enjoy a program or just to sit and watch waterfowl on the pond. If you haven’t visited the library lately, we invite you to come in soon and often. If you’re a regular, we’re glad you use and value the services we offer you and your community.
By the way, next time you’re in, leave a comment in the Idea Box on the Information Desk. Comment cards are available for you to request an item for purchase, make a suggestion, or to tell us your opinion on a topic related to the library.
–Michele, interim director.

Hello blog, this is a wonderful idea. I love that there can be more communication with the library. I think it would be a great idea to attach “donated by” or “donated item” to books and subscriptions to honor those who make donations. The library may find others are encouraged to donate when they see their neighbors name in print. Also the things in the library that come from community members or organizations such as the painting that hangs over the fireplace. The last time I enjoyed gazing at that painting I didn’t see any signage that tells patrons that The Estacada Area Literary Foundation, formerly Estacada Library Foundation, gifted $600.00 to the library to purchase that painting. Thank you for making it more possible to share ideas.. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for your comments, Lynn. Some of these ideas are in the works now. Also, Nina Bradford is the artist who created the visually fascinating piece over our fireplace, “The Avatar of River Mill.”
